Learn more about food packaging

Food packaging that protects freshness and strengthens your brand

In food, packaging isn’t just a box – it’s part of the product. At PrintPacking, we create cardboard food packaging that balances shelf life, safety and design, so your products travel safely through the supply chain and still look appealing when the customer opens them.

Food-contact compliant cardboard and barrier solutions

Every food packaging project starts with the right material:

  • Food-contact suitable cardboard, selected according to the product (dry, oily, chilled, frozen).

  • Water-based barriers and coatings to protect against grease, moisture or condensation.

  • Solutions for direct or indirect contact depending on your regulatory and technical needs.

By combining the appropriate cardboard grade and barrier system, we reduce the risk of:

  • Leaking or greasy packaging,

  • Softening or delamination in chilled/frozen conditions,

  • Product damage during transport and storage.

Structural design for logistics, shelf and the end user

Effective food packaging must function at every step:

  • Logistics – boxes and trays that stack on pallets without collapsing, optimise space in trucks and warehouses, and withstand handling.

  • Shelf – formats that are easy to face, keep fronts clean and can convert into shelf-ready packaging where needed.

  • Consumer – opening and closing should be intuitive, with clear tear-offs, tabs or perforations.

We design:

  • Trays and lids for fresh products and ready meals.

  • Cartons and sleeves for frozen and chilled foods.

  • Window boxes for bakery and confectionery.

  • Multi-pack wraps for snacks and smaller units.

The result is food packaging that saves time in packing, looks tidy on shelf and is intuitive for the customer.

Clear printing for ingredients, allergens and branding

Food packaging has to communicate a lot:

  • Ingredients lists, allergen information, nutritional tables, storage conditions.

  • Barcodes and regulatory marks.

  • Brand story, visuals and product photos.

We use offset printing for sharp text and graphics, even at small sizes. Layouts are planned so that:

  • Legally required information is clearly readable and doesn’t fight with the design.

  • Barcodes are placed in consistent, scannable positions.

  • Brand elements still stand out on crowded shelves.

Where needed, we combine matte or gloss varnish/lamination to protect fronts and maintain legibility in chilled cabinets or freezer environments.

Need a different box?

Food packaging is not the only packaging type we offer and uses these technologies. Explore what else we have in stock and receive the just the right box for your product

Ventilation, condensation and oven-ready solutions

Food behaves differently inside a closed box. We can:

  • Add vent holes for hot or freshly baked products (to let steam escape).

  • Use barrier layers to control condensation and grease.

  • Design oven- or microwave-friendly cardboard packaging where required (for ready meals or bake-at-home items).

This technical fine-tuning helps your products maintain texture and appearance from factory line to consumer’s table.

Food packaging for dry, chilled, frozen and bakery products

We produce food packaging for:

  • Dry goods – cereals, snacks, pasta, tea, etc.

  • Chilled products – salads, dairy, delicatessen, ready meals.

  • Frozen products – vegetables, pastries, ready meals, desserts.

  • Bakery and confectionery – cakes, pastries, chocolates, biscuits.

Different categories require different cardboard and barrier combinations, and we adjust the construction and printing for each.
