In no clue what to type

Previous invoice/spec

Invoice says “350 g/m²” → choose g/m², enter 350.

No previous experience (g/m²)

You measured thickness or supplier gives µm → choose µm, enter amount.

No previous experience (µm)

You only know it’s a standard folding carton → choose g/m², enter 350 (example)

If you truly have no clue what to write, you can just pick an estimation and then explain your situation in Step 6. Our team will help you decide.

You know GSM (g/m²)

g/m² (GSM) is grammage — how much 1 m² of board weighs. It’s commonly used on cartons and paperboard specs (e.g., 300–400 g/m²). Higher GSM often correlates with a stiffer feel, but it’s not a perfect “thickness” measure on its own.

You know microns (µm)

µm is physical thickness (how thick the board is). It’s measured as the sheet’s thickness (e.g., 450–600 µm). Thickness gives a direct sense of bulk, but stiffness still depends on the board type and structure.

Common mistakes

  • Entering product weight here (weight belongs in Step 6)

  • Mixing units (typing a µm value while g/m² is selected)

  • Leaving it blank when you could match an existing box by writing “match existing board” in Step 6
